VIDEO RELEASE: Senator Moody Recognizes Brave St. Johns County Deputies Who Heroically Rescued a Florida Senior from Sinking Vehicle with Florida’s Finest Awards

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla.-Senator Ashley Moody is recognizing two St. Johns County deputies with Florida's Finest Awards for their daring rescue of a senior. Deputy Eddy Monduy and Deputy Jeremiah Foster rushed into action to save a man who had accidentally driven his car into a retention pond. Due to the deputies' quick-thinking, the man was safely rescued. Senator Moody recently visited St. Johns County Sheriff's Office to present the deputies with their awards and thank them for their service.

Senator Ashley Moody said, "I'm honored to recognize two deputies whose courage, quick thinking and selflessness embody what it truly means to be Florida's Finest. In their heroic rescue of a senior from a sinking vehicle, there was no room for hesitation and no margin of error-but they put their safety aside to save another's life. I'm grateful for their dedication to service."

St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said, "Senator Moody consistently has the backs of those in the law enforcement profession. Whether as a prosecutor, judge, Attorney General, or United States Senator, she has never wavered in her support. As the spouse of a law enforcement officer herself, she understands the commitment our deputies put forth each day as well as their sacrifices. I could not be more grateful for her friendship over the years and her partnership with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. The Senator taking the time to recognize two of our own for their actions puts yet another exclamation point behind her standing firm for those who, without hesitation, protect and serve our communities daily."

In November, Deputies Monduy and Foster rushed into a retention pond to save a senior from his sinking car. When the deputies arrived, water was already up to the man's neck, and they quickly broke the car window and pull the man out of the water.

As Florida's Attorney General, Senator Moody highlighted heroic law enforcement actions through her Back the Blue Award. During her tenure as Attorney General, Senator Moody gave out more than 50 Back the Blue Awards. The "Florida's Finest" Award continues the tradition of highlighting extraordinary Floridians who take heroic actions within their communities.
