Tjeerd Boonman, Ph.D., McMullen Family Professor in Economics and assistant professor in the Department of Economics, Finance, and Real Estate, has been elected to the board of the Northeast Business and Economics Association (NBEA).
Following the conclusion of the NBEA Annual Conference, Boonman began his three-year term on the NBEA board, which runs through 2029.
"I am very honored to be part of the NBEA Board. I have participated in the past six editions and found it a great conference: it is diverse, small, regional and above all, a very human, positive, constructive audience. I came to the U.S. seven years ago, and forming part of this group feels like a great achievement and acknowledgement for me," Boonman said.
As a board member, Boonman will help evaluate the quality of submitted papers and vote on key decisions, including the location and dates of the NBEA conference. During his term, he may also serve as conference chair or proceedings editor.
In addition to his board responsibilities, Boonman plans to help improve the NBEA website and continue work on a special issue of the International Economics and Economic Policy journal, which invites selected conference presenters to submit their work. Boonman introduced the initiative at the most recent conference, with the goal attracting more scholars and high-quality research.
NBEA promotes excellence in business and economics through collaborative research and innovative education while encouraging critical thinking and the development of global solutions.
