Sacramento - Caltrans is alerting motorists that State Route 16 (SR 16) is scheduled for daytime partial closures due to construction.
This ongoing work is part of a $2 million project that will repave and widen the existing highway, add left-turn pockets, and install flashing light beacons for safety.
For motorists' and workers' safety, construction will be conducted under daily one-way traffic control, allowing the highway to remain open.
Motorists using SR 16 should expect delays and additional travel time.
Contractors will perform paving and shoulder backing work from April 27 through April 29.
Schedule: Daily roadwork from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 27 through April 29
Access from northbound or southbound County Road 95 (CR 95) will be restricted. Motorists will need to use an alternate route.
The designated detour for local traffic from CR 95 is as follows: motorists or residents north of the closure should continue northbound for access to SR 16.
Motorists or residents south of the closure should continue south to access Gibson Road (CR 24), then travel westbound to CR 94B or eastbound to CR 97 to bypass the closure.
Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work. Caltrans advises motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert."
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles across 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and to slow down in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
The department issues construction updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, visit Caltrans QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
