Fall Fest, Prophetstown State Park

Join us for our fall themed festival at Prophetstown State Park! Programs offered throughout the weekend.

Friday, October 18th
7pm-9:30pm S'mores and Stars Night Hike
Join us for s'mores at the campfire circle in the campground from 7pm-8pm followed by a night hike from 8pm-9:30pm! (All s'more fixings provided, while supplies last.) We'll then head out on a hike to uncover the secrets of nocturnal park residents while enjoying the stars above. This hike is best suited for kids ages 5 and up or for children who are comfortable being in the dark. Participants may bring a flashlight though we will turn all lights off for a portion of the program. The hike takes place on level, natural path trails and is 1 mile round-trip.


Saturday, October 19th
11am-3pm Fall Funfest at The Farm
Throw on your costume and celebrate Fall Funfest on The Farm! We will have fall themed crafts and activities for kids, including pumpkin carving and painting. Visit the houses to see exhibits and 1920s Halloween décor, ride the horse trolley, and listen to music by Scott Greeson and Vickie Maris at 12:00-1:30pm. Taste samples and vote at the Chili Cookoff!


12pm Chili Cookoff at The Farm
Participants must call 765-567-4700 to register by 10/17; $20/ per entry. Chili Cookoff participants should bring a 5-6qt crockpot of chili and arrive by 11:30 to check-in and set up. Judges will vote on 3 categories: Best Overall, Best Heat, and Most Unique. Guests can sample and vote for "People's Choice". Best Overall will win a grand prize of a custom apron and a $50 gift certificate for our Farm Fresh beef and pork.


2:30pm-3:30pm Games at the Native American Village
Join us at the village to play some games that children of Prophet's Town might have played. Then make and take home a toy of your own! Come as you please within the time frame, while supplies last. Park at the Visitor's Center and safely cross the road.


5pm-6pm Campground Trick-or-Treating
Trick or treating in the campground starts at 5pm! Campers - have your treats ready for the kids walking by. Open to the public, and parking is available at the campground entrance. No vehicle traffic allowed through the campground from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Visit campsite 251 in the Savanna Loop to trick or treat with the naturalists and to meet and take photos with Smokey!


6:30pm-9pm Campsite Judging
Decorate your campsites and/or display your carved or decorated pumpkins. Judges will tour the campground between these hours to evaluate your creations. You are welcome to provide a tour of your décor to the judges as they walk through. They'll select three winners in both categories.


Sunday, October 20th
8:30am-3pm Trail of Scarecrows Scavenger Hunt
Pick up a scavenger hunt at the Visitor's Center to complete along the Trail of Scarecrows! Return your completed scavenger hunt in exchange for a small prize. Available during Visitor Center hours only.


11am Winners List
We'll post the winners of the campsite and pumpkin decorating contest on the Campground Shower Building Bulletin Board. Winners, if we don't catch you at your campsite to give you your prize, make sure to stop by the Visitor Center and pick it up!


1pm-2pm Where the Buffalo Roam
Indiana was once home to a wide array of mammals. Some former residents may surprise you! Join a park naturalist and our friends from Wolf Park to learn more about the fauna who roam our state- both past and present. Try out our quiz and collect a small prize. Meet at the Bergamot Picnic shelter in the Prairie View picnic area.

For all programs:
Bug spray, sunscreen, and a full water bottle are recommended.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
All programming free with park admission unless otherwise noted. All times are Eastern.
Campground programs are also open to the public-park at the campground gate and walk in.
