Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is proud to announce that Trauma Program Manager Jennifer Koontz has been named a 2025 Trauma Leadership Excellence Scholar by the National Quality Systems (NQS) Trauma TEAMS Scholarship program.
Koontz has more than 15 years of experience in trauma nursing and leadership, advancing from staff nurse to managing an inpatient trauma unit before assuming her current role at Conemaugh Memorial. As the leader of a rural Level I Trauma Center, she oversees the coordination of high-acuity trauma care across a broad region, maintains the highest standards of regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvements in patient care and staff education.
The Trauma Leadership Excellence Scholars program recognizes trauma professionals who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing trauma systems and improving patient outcomes. Scholars gain access to advanced educational opportunities, mentorship, and expanded professional networks through collaboration with the American Trauma Society (ATS), Trauma Center Association of America (TCAA), and Society of Trauma Nurses (STN). The program is designed to equip the next generation of trauma leaders with the tools and strategies needed to strengthen trauma systems nationwide.
Koontz was selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, with NQS highlighting the exceptional dedication and promise shown by trauma leaders across the country. Through this program, she will further refine her skills in trauma systems management, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice to enhance team coordination, expand trauma education initiatives, and improve patient outcomes at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and beyond.
