Milling and Resurfacing on Route 169 in Canterbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 169 in Canterbury. This project is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, May 20 and be completed on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Project No. DOT01720558CN "D" consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.48-mile segment of Route 169 from Service Route 668 (Butts Bridge Road) to Route 14 in Canterbury. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. on Wednesday, May 20 to Wednesday, May 27, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by All States Const. Inc. is anticipated to begin on Monday, June 29 to Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

This project is included in CTDOT's 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 169 from Service Route 668 (Butts Bridge Road) to Route 14 in Canterbury starting May 20 through July 15, 2026. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Work will end at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, July 2 and will resume on Monday morning, July 6 due to the Independence Day holiday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
