Vermont Man Arrested on Weapons and Drug Charges

On October 24, 2024, at 12:10 a.m., State Police in Troop T (Thruway) located a 2020 Toyota Tacoma Truck with Vermont plates parked along Interstate 90 eastbound unoccupied. 911 dispatchers advised patrols that there had been reports of a pedestrian walking in the area. As Troopers began to search for the driver, they observed several bullet holes in the vehicle, along with a pistol, and a revolver on the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Shortly after the vehicle was discovered parked along the Thruway, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported suspicious person walking in the area of the Holiday Inn on Winchell Road in the town of Warners. Deputies identified the suspicious person as Christopher Flynn of Bridgewater, Vermont. Flynn, the registered owner of the vehicle, had left his vehicle parked along the Thruway. He stated to deputies that he thought he was being followed by someone from Vermont and that he fired at them from inside his vehicle. Flynn was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital for evaluation. A search of the vicinity of the Thruway was conducted by Troop T patrols.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, they located a Sig Sauer P365 pistol, with a loaded magazine, and a Taurus Revolver loaded with expended shell casings in the revolver cylinder. Also located within Flynn's vehicle were "Magic mushrooms", which field tested positive for psilocybin, and a white powdery substance, which field tested positive for cocaine. This evidence corroborates Flynn's statements that he had used cocaine and had fired multiple rounds from within his vehicle.

Christopher J. Flynn, age 28 from Bridgewater, Vermont was arrested for the following:

  • (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, class "C" felony
  • (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class "E" felony
  • (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, class "A" misdemeanor.

Flynn was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center, pending arraignment.
