Rosen Helps Introduce Bill Requiring Trump to Refund Money from Illegal Tariffs

Bill Instructs Trump Administration To Prioritize Small Businesses; Requires Full Refund Of Illegal Trump Tariffs In 180 Days

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce legislation that would require the Trump Administration to issue full refunds for importers, including small businesses, that paid fees because of his illegal tariffs. This comes after Trump's tariffs were struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday by a 6-3 vote. To date, the Trump Administration has collected an estimated $175 billion in illegal tariff revenue, raising taxes on products from nearly every country on earth, and jacking up prices for American families.

"As Nevadans were already being squeezed by high prices, Donald Trump intentionally and illegally bypassed Congress to implement tariffs that raised costs even more on hardworking families," said Senator Rosen. "I'm glad to see the Supreme Court agreed that Trump's tariffs were unlawful, and he must now refund the $175 billion illegally collected from small businesses, consumers, and hardworking families. That's why my colleagues and I introduced a bill that would require Trump to return the money and prioritize those individuals and small businesses who have been hurt most by these illegal tariffs."

Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight to overturn Trump's reckless tariffs. Last year, she introduced a bill to eliminate tariffs on groceries and help lower food prices, but Senate Republicans blocked her efforts to pass the bill by unanimous consent. Senator Rosen has voted several times in the Senate to overturn Trump's tariffs, including on Brazil and Canada. She has also joined colleagues in a series of amicus briefs calling on federal courts to strike down Trump's illegal tariffs.
