Weapons – Arrest: C25-7048

On January 10, 2025 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the intersection of Home Street at Notre Dame Avenue for the report of an armed male inside a parked vehicle.

The registered owner, returning to his vehicle, observed a broken window and a male sleeping inside with an edged weapon and a firearm in plain view. The owner stepped away and summoned police for assistance.

Attending Tactical Support Team (TST) members with Central District General Patrol officers contained the vehicle, safely extracted the male, and placed him under arrest without incident. An imitation air pistol and a machete were seized as evidence.

Maurice Kelly Ryan THOMAS, 31, of Winnipeg is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
  • Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

THOMAS was detained in custody.
