University of Hartford Climbs in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Universities Rankings

The University climbed 13 spots among Best National Universities compared to last year. UHart was also recognized as #137 nationally among Top Private Schools, appearing in that category for the first time this year. The incoming Class of 2030 is one of the highest academically achieving classes to arrive at the University in recent years, with an average GPA of 3.45-a testament to the University's relentless focus on student success.

UHart made an even bigger leap in the Top Performers on Social Mobility category, jumping 39 spots. The ranking recognizes a college's success at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students, underscoring UHart's commitment to expanding access and helping students turn opportunity into achievement.

A number of the University's most in-demand majors were also recognized. The University appeared among top undergraduate academic programs in psychology, business, engineering, and nursing, with psychology rising 10 spots from last year.

Taken together, the gains show that the University's investments in student success are bearing fruit-from the creation of the Center for Student Success in 2019, to the opening of the Hursey Center in 2021, to a host of renovations and upgrades to academic and gathering spaces. Through initiatives such as the recently created Hawk Advantage program, which provides extra support for students who need it, and ongoing enhancements to its academic advising model, UHart is building an increasingly connected network of resources designed to help students succeed throughout every phase of their UHart journey-and beyond.

The U.S. News rankings support the momentum of UHart's investments and future. This year, the University looks forward to celebrating the continued transformation of the student experience, including openings for the Vin Baker Outdoor Athletic and Recreation Complex and The Landing, a new signature dining location. The University's new strategic plan, Excellence Reimagined, will also be finalized this fall.
