Attorney General Ken Paxton secured a $7.5 million settlement with Tris Pharmaceuticals ("Tris Pharma"), holding the company accountable for misrepresenting the efficacy of Dyanavel XR, an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder ("ADHD") drug marketed for children.
In 2023, Attorney General Paxton sued Tris Pharma and its CEO, Ketan Mehta, after an investigation uncovered an alleged scheme to defraud the Texas Medicaid program through false and misleading claims about Dyanavel XR. Tris Pharma overstated the drug's efficacy and directed sales representatives to make misleading claims to doctors, including Texas Medicaid providers, that Dyanavel XR worked significantly faster than competing drugs and provided other unproven benefits to pediatric patients. These misleading claims were disseminated during thousands of sales calls.
Now, Attorney General Paxton has secured a settlement requiring Tris Pharma to pay $7.5 million to Texas.
"Tris Pharma is now paying millions of dollars for misleading folks about ADHD drugs being prescribed to children," said Attorney General Paxton. "Pharmaceutical companies that distort the truth to sell their products will face the consequences. I will continue using every tool available to protect Texas children, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and hold Big Pharma accountable."
