Governor Whitmer Participates in Final Michigan National Guard Pass In Review

LANSING, Mich. - Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan National Guard (MING) at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center for her final Pass In Review as governor. Pass In Review is a longstanding tradition that honors the service and sacrifice of MING Soldiers, Airmen and their families.

"Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our state and nation, while also recognizing those who continue to answer the call whenever and wherever they are needed," said Governor Whitmer. "The MING has been there for our communities during emergencies, natural disasters and overseas deployments, demonstrating professionalism, courage and selfless service. On behalf of all Michiganders, thank you to our Guard members and their families for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice."

The Memorial Pass in Review Ceremony is a time-honored tradition of the MING during which accomplishments of the previous calendar year are acknowledged, outstanding performers are recognized and deceased and fallen members of the MING are honored. Gov. Whitmer reviewed the formation of troops along with U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, adjutant general and director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA).

"This annual tradition gives us the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of those we have lost while recognizing the exceptional men and women serving today," said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, adjutant general and director of the DMVA. "The Michigan National Guard remains ready to answer the call at home and abroad, and that readiness is built on the dedication of our Soldiers, Airmen, civilian employees and families. Their commitment ensures we can continue protecting our communities, our state and our nation whenever duty calls."
