City of Green Bay Named 2024 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize Winner

May 13, 2025

Green Bay, WI - The City of Green Bay is proud to announce it has been named one of the 2024 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize winners, a prestigious national honor recognizing communities at the forefront of advancing health, opportunity, and equity for all.

The RWJF Culture of Health Prize celebrates communities across the country that have made significant strides in building safe and supportive environments where everyone can thrive. This year, Green Bay joins eight other communities nationwide in receiving this distinction, which comes with a $250,000 award and national recognition for the city's collaborative efforts to create a healthier, more equitable future.

"This award is a testament to the dedication and partnership of Green Bay's residents, nonprofits, businesses, and local leaders who are working together to ensure everyone in our city has the opportunity to live their healthiest life," said Mayor Eric Genrich. "By centering the lived experiences of our diverse communities and focusing on equity, we are building a city where all voices are heard, and all people can thrive."

A Community United for Health and Equity
Green Bay's recognition as a Culture of Health Prize winner highlights the city's innovative, cross-sector initiatives addressing housing, food security, health services, and community inclusion. Local leaders in government, business, sports, and community-based organizations have united to implement a new framework for measuring wellbeing, providing valuable insights into residents' physical and mental health, social connections, and community conditions such as income, housing, and safety. These efforts are rooted in the cultures and voices of all who call Green Bay home, recalibrating systems to better prioritize community needs and foster hope for a future of health, equity, and liberation.

About the RWJF Culture of Health Prize
Since 2013, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has recognized more than 60 communities nationwide with the Culture of Health Prize, honoring those that address structural racism and other injustices to advance health equity. Prize-winning communities demonstrate what is possible when residents, organizations, and local leaders work together to build a society where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to thrive.
