After Commerce Secretary Misled Public About Relationship with Epstein, Rosen Calls on Lutnick to Release His Flight Logs

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, sent a letter calling on Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to release his private flight logs from 2005 to 2019, in light of him misleading the American public about the extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. In February 2026, it was revealed that Secretary Lutnick had visited Epstein at his private island in 2012 - long after the convicted sex trafficker's 2008 guilty plea for soliciting a minor - and had an hour-long engagement at Epstein's home in 2011. This report contradicts Lutnick's previous claims that he and his wife had cut ties with Epstein in 2005.

"I write to request you release your flight logbook covering the period between 2005 and 2019 ahead of your hearing before Congress. This timeframe reflects your first initial in-person meeting in 2005 with convicted child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, through your alleged last in-person meeting with him in 2012, and concluding with his death in 2019," wrote Senator Rosen. "It was deeply concerning and appalling to hear, in your official testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations last month, your acknowledgement of a direct connection with Mr. Epstein as late as 2012, which contradicted your previous denial of any recent ties to him in other public interviews and reporting. Such a revelation requires accountability and further investigation, including sharing information on all of your flights during the period of your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein."

"Your contradictory statements over the past year demonstrate a clear attempt to mislead the American people about your ties Mr. Epstein," Senator Rosen continued. "Congress has the responsibility to seek justice for the victims preyed upon by Mr. Epstein and his co-conspirators. It is also our responsibility to ensure that public trust and transparency is maintained and that the public can have full confidence in the President's most trusted advisors."

Senator Rosen has been fighting for transparency and accountability when it comes to government officials who had contact with Jeffrey Epstein. She has called for everyone mentioned in the Epstein files to be held accountable, regardless of political affiliation. Senator Rosen was the first member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to call for Lutnick's resignation. Senator Rosen also introduced a resolution opposing any clemency from Donald Trump for convicted sex trafficker Ghislane Maxwell.
