Drought Status: Normal

While Broomfield is not currently in a major drought, residents and businesses are required to follow a standard watering schedule as set by the Water Use Ordinance :

  • For small properties (those less than 100,000 square feet or 2.3 acres) including most residences, irrigation is limited to three days per week (schedule below) and shall be avoided between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
    • Addresses ending in even numbers can water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
    • Addresses ending in odd numbers can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Irrigation for larger properties (those larger than 100,000 square feet or 2.3 acres) may span multiple days over a single evening.
  • Turf areas irrigated by reclaimed water shall not irrigate before April 1 or after Nov. 30.
  • The irrigation of trees, shrubs or gardens may occur at any time if watered by hand, a drip irrigation system, a bubbler system or a soaker hose.
  • Other requirements can be found in the Ordinance.

Precipitation since 2022 has been average to above average, both in the immediate Broomfield area and in the mountains that supply the City and County of Broomfield's water. The Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District issued a normal quota of 80% on the Colorado-Big Thomspon system in 2024. CCOB's projected water supply for the year is above average. For these reasons, CCOB is not currently in a Drought Condition. However, residents and businesses are encouraged to continue water conservation.
