The City of Unley is delighted to announce the winner of the 2025 Unley Art Prize, revealed at the official opening of the finalists' exhibition at Hughes Gallery on Friday 6 June. This year's major prize of $5,000 was awarded to David Doull for his outstanding video artwork 'Above Us Only Sky,' that explored the theme of connection to the City of Unley. His piece stood out for its creative vision, technical execution, and deep engagement with the character and spirit of the local area.

Now in its fifth year, the Unley Art Prize continues to grow in stature, attracting a wide range of South Australian artists across all career stages and mediums. The 2025 competition drew a strong field of entries, with works ranging from digital media and sculpture to painting, ceramics, collage and found materials.Councillor Peter Hughes reflected on the prize's value to the community: "The art prize is a highlight of the City of Unley's creative calendar, giving us the opportunity to see the many unique ways that artists interact with, and interpret, our wonderful city."

The exhibition at Hughes Gallery in Fullarton runs until Thursday 27 June. Entry is free and visitors are encouraged to cast their vote for the People's Choice Award. The $500 Elected Members Choice Award will also be announced at the conclusion of the exhibition. View the full list of 2025 finalists and learn more at unley.sa.gov.au/unley-art-prize.
