CORAL SPRINGS, FL - A new era for arts and culture in Coral Springs is set to begin as the Coral Springs Museum of Art (3380 N. University Drive) hosts a Grand Opening Celebration for its newly relocated gallery in the heart of Downtown Coral Springs on Friday, October 9 at 5:30 p.m.
The public is invited to experience the new museum for the first time at a Grand Opening Celebration featuring music in the gallery, limited-edition merchandise for sale, and the debut of Picasso: A Graphic Journey, a major international exhibition featuring original works by Pablo Picasso.
Admission is $10 per person and free for Museum members. Tickets will be offered in one-hour time slots, with gallery capacity limited to 140 guests. Each ticket includes one complimentary drink. Grand Opening Tickets can be purchased online Museum admission on Saturday, October 10, and every business day going forward, will be free.
The Museum's inaugural exhibition, Picasso: A Graphic Journey, features 57 original prints created by Pablo Picasso between 1923 and 1972, including etchings, lithographs, linocuts and a rare, cancelled copper printing plate. This exhibit is made possible with support from the Broward County Cultural Division, funded by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. The exhibition will be on view through December 5.
Cages and Collage, an exhibition by local artist Janet Gold, will also be on view in the newly relocated gallery through December 31.
The new gallery features more than 5,000 square feet of exhibition space, a modern street-facing design, and flexible gallery walls that will accommodate dynamic, rotating exhibitions. The space will also include a retail store, a coffee station, and a Creative Studio.
"It's an incredible honor to welcome this collection of Picasso's work as we open the doors to a new chapter for the Coral Springs Museum of Art," Museum Board Chair and Commissioner Joshua Simmons said. "This new gallery represents years of vision and investment in arts and culture, and exhibitions like this will give residents and visitors from around the world even more reason to experience Downtown Coral Springs."
The opening marks a significant milestone for the Coral Springs Museum of Art, which has served as a cultural destination within the community for nearly 30 years. In 2019, the Coral Springs City Commission formally accepted a governance role as the Museum's Board, creating a closer alignment between the Museum and the city and helping expand accessibility, including the introduction of free Museum admission.
The relocation also coincides with a refreshed identity for the Museum, highlighted by the newly redesigned website, which recently launched with an enhanced focus on the visitor experience.
While the exhibition gallery has moved downtown, the Museum's robust lineup of art classes and creative experiences will continue at the CSMoA Creative Studios, located on the second floor of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive.
