Ambassador Attached to the Ministry leads delegation to the Southern Border Provinces to enhance relations with local authorities in higher education

On 6 - 8 May 2025, Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Ambassador Attached to the Ministry, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), and a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid a visit to Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat Provinces to promote the Ministry's Training Programme for Students from Thailand's Southern Border Provinces (SBPs), 19th edition, an initiative to foster skillsets and strengthen capacity necessary for students from local universities in the SBPs. The Training Programme this year will be held on 14 - 28 June 2025.

The delegation called on representatives of local universities, including Prince of Songkla University (Pattani Campus), Fatoni University, Yala Rajabhat University, and Princess of Naradhiwas University. They also visited the Women's Empowerment and Learning Center (WE Center), an initiative by UN Women in Pattani, and the Association of Children and Youth for Peace in the Deep South (Luuk Riang) in Yala. The delegation, in cooperation with the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC), also organised a meeting session with alumni of the Ministry's Training Programme for Students from Thailand's Southern Border Provinces at the Southern Border Provinces Government Complex to follow up on the outcomes and impacts resulting from the Programme, as well as to exchange views with the local youth to further develop activities under the Programme and explore areas of international cooperation Ministry can lead on as a contribution to the promotion and development of the SBPs.
