ATLANTA - The United States Secret Service has announced the appointment of Robert C. Donovan as Special Agent in Charge (SAIC) of the Secret Service's Atlanta Field Office, responsible for conducting a vast array of complex investigations and protective missions.
In this role, Donovan will oversee one of the Southeast's largest field offices that each year investigates cases involving protective intelligence, cyber-enabled financial crimes, exploitation of America's financial infrastructure and payment systems. The Atlanta Field Office also regularly supports protective missions for the President, Vice President, government officials and visiting world leaders. The office personnel includes Special Agents, analytical, administrative, professional, and technical employees.
His appointment is effective on March 8, 2026. Donovan previously was the Deputy Special Agent in Charge at the Atlanta Field Office.
Donovan entered federal law enforcement in 2000 as a Special Agent in the New York Field Office. He subsequently was assigned to the Presidential Protective Division, the agency's elite Counter Assault Team, and was a Congressional Fellow on the U.S. Senate Judiciary and Finance Committees. Donovan also was the Senior Advisor to the National Intelligence Officer for Cyber Issues at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Donovan is the recipient of two U.S. Intelligence Community awards for analysis and was presented the U.S. Secret Service Medal of Valor for actions in saving lives and fighting fires at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Donovan received a bachelor's degree from Georgia College & State University, holds a Master of Science degree from Sam Houston State University, and completed the Key Executive Leadership program at American University in 2021.
