ATLANTA - May 6, 2026 - Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has launched a new legal blog focused on consumer protection law, policy, and enforcement activity. The firm's Consumer Protection Insights examines regulatory developments and enforcement trends flowing from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the State Attorneys General community, and provides valuable insights and information to help businesses understand and navigate this complex and ever-evolving area of law. The blog will be co-edited by Shareholders Tim Butler and Eva Spahn.
"We are excited to launch Consumer Protection Insights as a practical resource for businesses navigating the complex and rapidly shifting consumer protection landscape," Butler said. "With active enforcement by the FTC, the CFPB, and state attorneys general, companies need timely, actionable guidance to stay compliant and protect themselves from significant legal and regulatory risk. Our goal is to provide exactly that."
"Consumer protection law touches virtually every industry, and the consequences for businesses that fail to keep pace with regulatory developments can be severe," Spahn said. "Through this blog, we aim to offer businesses the kind of practical, on-the-ground perspective that comes from years of experience in the courtroom and at the negotiating table, helping them stay ahead of enforcement trends and address compliance challenges before they escalate."
Butler helps companies thrive by developing tailored strategies to address their regulatory compliance challenges and vigorously defending them in government enforcement actions and bet-the-company lawsuits. A former prosecuting attorney for the FTC and former senior official in the Georgia Attorney General's Office, Butler has led the defense of dozens of government investigations and enforcement actions brought by the FTC, the CFPB, and various state attorneys general. He also regularly defends clients in complex business disputes and consumer class actions alleging privacy, false advertising, and unfair or deceptive business practice claims.
Spahn is a multilingual commercial litigator, trial lawyer, and problem solver representing U.S. and foreign clients in domestic and cross-border class actions, products liability, financial services, and other complex commercial disputes in state and federal jurisdictions and multiple arbitration forums. She advises clients in all aspects of dispute resolution, from pre-litigation negotiations through trial and post-trial proceedings, and has represented major national financial institutions, manufacturers, and other clients across a wide range of industries.
In addition to regulatory compliance counseling, the Consumer Protection Team at Greenberg Traurig assists businesses facing government investigations or enforcement actions initiated by the CFPB, the FTC, or one or more state attorneys general, drawing on a deep bench of former government attorneys to provide clients with uniquely informed and effective representation.
