WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced $900,000 in federal grant funds from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to upgrade facilities at the Williamsport Regional Airport. These funds will complement funding from a February grant of $397,421 to upgrade airfield signage and reseal an existing taxiway. Congressman Meuser was joined by Congressman Glenn Thompson (PA-15) in expressing support for this funding.
"I am happy to announce a significant federal investment heading to the Williamsport Regional Airport to maintain the taxiway and other important upgrades," said Congressman Meuser. "Williamsport Airport is a vital hub for small businesses, manufacturing, local universities, and international travelers coming to and from the Little League World Series. As we strive to improve service for business owners, students, and local travelers, these federal dollars will expand access to the airport and fund necessary improvements to help revitalize the entire facility. The Williamsport Airport is an important resource for the community, and I will continue to advocate on its behalf."
"The airport is a great asset to the region, and I am pleased that this funding will be used to improve the current taxiway, extending the lifespan and safety of the runway," Rep. Thompson said.
"This investment represents a significant commitment to the long-term safety and operational efficiency of Williamsport Regional Airport," said Eric B. McKitish, Sr., IPT Executive Director. "Maintaining and improving our airfield infrastructure is essential to supporting the businesses, travelers, and communities that rely on our airport every day."
"We appreciate the continued partnership and support from the FAA, U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser, and all our elected officials who recognize the importance of regional air transportation infrastructure," said Frank G. Pellegrino, Airport Authority Board Chairman. "This grant allows us to continue investing in the future of air service and economic development across all of North Central Pennsylvania."
This funding allocates $900,000 to rehabilitate 2,500 feet of Taxiway B at Williamsport Airport to maintain its structural integrity. These funds are made possible by the FAA's Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
