FedEx and Feed the Children Provide Hygiene Kits to 2,400 Filipino Students, Boosting Health and School Readiness

FedEx Philippines collaborated with Feed the Children to deliver personal Hygiene kits and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) education support to remote communities in Bohol and Zamboanga del Norte

Philippines, Manila, 1 July 2026 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world's largest express transportation companies, collaborated with Feed the Children, a global movement focused on ending childhood hunger, to address health challenges by donating personal hygiene kits to 2,400 grade school children from fishing and farming communities in Bohol and Zamboanga del Norte. Feed the Children worked closely with local schools and communities to coordinate the distribution and deliver hygiene education sessions designed to encourage healthy habits among students.

This initiative is part of Feed the Children's Clean Futures Alliance initiative in collaboration with FedEx Cares, the company's global community engagement program. The program focuses on providing meaningful, community-centered support by incorporating critical Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) components. Through practical, school-based interventions and educational resources, the initiative is designed to reinforce healthy habits and improve the well-being of local children and their families.

"At FedEx, we believe that access to basic hygiene is fundamental to a child's ability to learn and thrive. Through this initiative, we are not only delivering essential supplies but also fostering healthier routines and stronger foundations for learning," said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director, FedEx Philippines. "By providing hygiene kits and health education, we aim to create a lasting impact and empower Filipino children to stay in school and reach their full potential."

"Access to hygiene supports children's health, confidence and ability to stay engaged in school," said Emily Callahan, president and CEO of Feed the Children. "As part of Feed the Children's global movement to create lasting change for children and families, our continued collaboration with FedEx is expanding access to community-driven solutions in the Philippines that help children learn, grow, and build healthier futures."

Fourteen FedEx employee volunteers assembled and delivered personal hygiene kits containing soap, shampoo, face towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to help children maintain good hygiene and stay focused on their education.

Beyond providing essential supplies, the program promotes lasting behavior change through school-based orientation sessions in 11 schools, encouraging consistent, daily hygiene practices among students. Studies show that handwashing with soap can reduce diarrheal diseases by up to 30% and acute respiratory infections by up to 20%, underscoring the importance of early education and access to basic hygiene tools. Oral health remains a growing concern, with the Philippine Dental Association reporting that72% of Filipinos suffer from tooth decay, with school-aged children among the most affected, making it a leading cause of school absenteeism.

Through FedEx Cares, the company's global community engagement program, the initiative aims to help improve the health and well-being of Filipino students ahead of the school year.

Since 2023, FedEx and Feed the Children have worked together to support more than 5,000 children across the Philippines through education, health, and community-based initiatives..

The organizations encourage everyone to join the global movement so children everywhere can survive and thrive. Supporters who want to make an impact can donate or learn more at feedthechildren.org or fedexcares.com.
