City of Omaha to Host Step Up Intern Graduation

July 24, 2025

OMAHA, Neb. - The City of Omaha will host a graduation ceremony at noon on Friday (July 25) for 20 Step Up interns who spent their summer at City Departments. Mayor Ewing will address the audience, students will receive graduation certificates, and each student will share a few words about their experience. The graduation will be held in the Legislative Chambers of the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam St.

Quote from Mayor Ewing about Step-Up

Aaliyah Wilson, who is entering her senior year at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, said her experience interning with the city gave her a chance to learn new skills, grow in my confidence, and explore professional opportunities for my future.

"I've been exposed to a world of potential career opportunities that align with my education, in the environmental sciences and sustainability at UNO," she said. "My internship allowed me to get one foot in the door, and I hope it leads to many more opportunities."
