Chairwoman Amy Barela's statement on the appointment of Republican, Rex Wilson to SD-33

Santa Fe, NM - Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed former Lincoln County Commissioner Rex Wilson to serve in the New Mexico State Senate, representing Senate District 33. The district encompasses Lincoln, Otero, and Chaves counties, and Wilson will assume his role as the districts senator as the 2026 Legislative Session is just days away. Please see the following statement by RPNM Chairwoman, Amy Barela:

"I want to congratulate Rex Wilson as he steps into this role to serve the constituents of SD-33 at one of the most critical moments in our states history," said Chairwoman Barela. "Rex will bring valuable insight to the Legislature, and his work will have a profound impact on the people in southern New Mexico. He will be a strong addition to our caucus, and I'm thrilled the people of SD-33 now have representation in the upcoming legislative session."
