HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. - Families in Haywood County will soon have another hospice care option. AdventHealth has been awarded Certificate of Need (CON) approval to establish home-based hospice services in the county, expanding access to faith-based, whole-person end-of-life care.
For more than a century, AdventHealth has cared for Western North Carolina, building a legacy of compassionate care, trusted partnerships and service to the community.
That commitment includes more than a decade of providing cancer care to patients in Haywood County and surrounding communities, along with the addition of orthopedic services through AdventHealth | Southeastern Orthopedics and Spine at Haywood*.
Bringing AdventHealth Hospice to Haywood County builds on that foundation by expanding the continuum of care and giving patients and families another trusted option for compassionate support close to home.
"This approval is about more than adding another hospice care option. It gives us the opportunity to serve more families with compassionate hospice care that honors each person's dignity and supports loved ones," said Bryan Wright, chief operating officer for AdventHealth Home Health and Hospice. "We are humbled by this opportunity to bring whole-person care to patients and families in Haywood County and to continue living out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ."
AdventHealth Hospice provides personalized, comfort-focused care delivered through a connected network of support. A multidisciplinary team works across specialties to care for the whole person -- body, mind and spirit -- while also supporting the loved ones walking this journey alongside them.
"Caring for families through every stage of life's journey has always been at the heart of our mission," said Krystin Littleton, executive director of AdventHealth Home Health. "Having been part of serving this community for many years, I've seen firsthand what happens when our teams come together around a shared purpose. Expanding hospice services in Haywood County allows us to build on those relationships and ensure more families experience compassionate, coordinated care that supports the whole person and those who love them."
