LOS ANGELES - Next Tuesday, April 22, Metrolink, the region's six-county passenger rail service, will once again provide free rides on all trains, including the Arrow service, in honor of Earth Day. Riders can board any train at any Metrolink station with no ticket required. This is the fourth consecutive year Metrolink has offered free fares for Earth Day after initially debuting the promotion in 2019.
"An experience aboard Metrolink can inspire people to make more sustainable choices-not just on Earth Day, but every day," Metrolink Board Chair and Orange County Fourth District Supervisor Doug Chaffee said. "We encourage our communities to embrace this free ride opportunity and enjoy the many positive benefits of train travel."
In addition to Metrolink, several other Southern California public transportation providers are offering free rides on Earth Day. Included among them are a variety of services operated by the LA Metro, which connects with six of Metrolink's lines at LA Union Station. Many transit agencies in Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Venturacounties, such as OC Bus, Omnitrans, Riverside Transit Agencyand more, are also participating. Bicycles are permittedon Metrolink and Arrow trains, but space is limited. Most Metrolink train cars can hold up to three bikes, while designated bike cars can carry up to 11.
