Learn about the Year of the Horse and Asian culture during the Greensboro History Museum's annual Lunar New Year Community Celebration from 11 am-4:30 pm, Saturday, February 7, at the Museum, 130 Summit Ave. Cultural organizations from across North Carolina will share traditions from East and Southeast Asia.
There will be music and dance performances, and visitors can enjoy hands-on activities while learning more about local Asian-American communities. Participating groups include the Greensboro Chinese Association, Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, Korean Association of Greater Greensboro, NC Asian Americans Together, Aggies for Asia, Greensboro Public Library, and more.
Yo-yo acrobatics, musical and dance performances (including the dragon and lion dances) will take place throughout the day. Check the event page on the museum's website for a performance schedule. Plus, the Boa Yeah! and Sister Liu's Kitchen food trucks will be on site offering Asian cuisine.
This year's Lunar New Year celebration has been organized in partnership with Greensboro Downtown Parks Inc. Free parking for Greensboro History Museum weekend events is available across from the museum and at the Church Street Parking Deck, a 5-minute walk.
