On 10 November, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Sigitas Mitkus welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó at Šiauliai Air Base, where he visited the Hungarian contingent conducting the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission.
"Hungary's participation in NATO's Air Policing mission is a clear sign of solidarity. We are grateful for your contribution to the security of our region," said Mitkus.
The Vice-Minister also stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and the need to make progress in negotiations on the country's membership of the European Union.
Hungary is currently conducting the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission for the fourth time, having previously done so in 2015, 2019, and 2022. This mission is an important contribution to the collective security of NATO and the protection of the airspace of the Baltic region.
