NCAA Women’s Golf Regional Tournament schedule altered, Texan Women’s Golf starts play in Lubbock Sunday afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas - Tarleton State's first trip to the NCAA regionals at the Division I level will start a day earlier than planned due to expected weather in the Lubbock area on Monday.

Announced late Saturday, the NCAA Regional Tournament at the Lubbock Regional Site will play its first of three rounds on Sunday afternoon at The Rawls Course in Lubbock. As NCAA officials track the weather in the Lubbock area, the remainder of the tournament schedule is unclear at this time. The original schedule was for the first round to be played on Monday, the second round on Tuesday and the third round on Wednesday.

The Texans are one of 12 teams competing in the Lubbock Regional Site, one of six regional tournaments played nationwide. There are 396 participants in total across the six, with each site featuring 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to compete in the national championships to be played May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

At the Lubbock Regional Site is the 1-seed Texas, 2-seed Wake Forest, 3-seed Arizona, 4-seed Texas A&M, 5-seed Iowa State, 6-seed Tennessee, 7-seed Purdue, 8-seed Campbell, 9-seed UC Davis, 10-seed Florida Gulf Coast, 11-seed Tarleton State and 12-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

On Sunday, the Texans will get underway at 2:25 p.m., paired with Florida Gulf Coast and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. They'll tee off on the back nine, starting with the fifth golfer in the lineup, and in reverse order from there every 11 minutes.

will begin her round as Tarleton State's No. 1 golfer at 3:09 p.m. Fresh off of being named the WAC Co-Golfer of the Year, Depadt was the individual champion at the WAC Championship just over two weeks ago. Across 10 tournaments this season, Depadt placed in the top-10 nine times, eight times in the top-five, winning the individual title twice. She's logged seven straight top-five results, including medalist honors twice over her final three events. She leads the team with a 71.7 scoring average across 29 rounds, and is coming off of her career-best round, a -6 (66) to win the WAC Championship.

In the No. 2 position teeing off at 2:58 p.m. is Tarleton State's . Deltombe was named one of the 10 best golfers in the WAC this week as she earned Second Team All-WAC honors. She is second on the team with a 73.0 scoring average across 29 rounds, recording seven top-10 results across her 10 tournaments. She took tied-sixth at the WAC Championship at +3 (73-69-77).

At the No. 3 position teeing off at 2:47 p.m. is Tarleton State's . Guzman was tied-13th at the WAC Championship at +7 (74-72-77). In her junior campaign, Guzman has placed in the top-20 five times, her best finish coming at the West Texas Classic where she took silver at +3 (72-71). She's averaging a 76.2 round score.

At the No. 4 position teeing off at 2:36 p.m. is Tarleton State's . Fernandez was tied-31st at the WAC Championship at +15 (75-74-82). She's placed in the top-20 three times this year, with an eighth place result, as she averages a 76.4 round score this season.

Starting the day for the Texans at the No. 5 position at 2:25 p.m. is Tarleton State's . The Texan senior was forced to withdraw in the WAC Championship's first round due to injury, then posted back-to-back +7 (79) rounds in Rounds 2-3. She's averaging a 76.8 round score and has placed in the top-20 twice this year.

Head coach has already led this program to Tarleton State Athletics' first automatic qualifying NCAA postseason tournament appearance, and has a chance to lead the Texans to the NCAA Championship.
