Jardine Matheson today announced the appointment of Irene Liu as Managing Director, Investments, effective 13 April.
Irene is a recognised leader in private equity, with over 20 years' industry experience, including 16 years in private equity identifying and leading investment opportunities and serving on boards of large and complex companies, particularly in Greater China and Asia Pacific.
The appointment is aligned with Jardines' strategic focus on building its investment and portfolio management capabilities. As a member of the executive leadership team, Irene will be responsible for identifying new investment opportunities and driving portfolio performance to build bigger and better businesses. She is expected to join the Boards of DFI Retail and Mandarin Oriental representing Jardine Matheson in due course.
Most recently, Irene was a partner at Advent International, a partnership-led global private equity firm, where she led and managed investments in the business and financial services sectors, and originated and executed transactions across a range of industries. She also served on the formal governance committee for Advent's global leadership programme, working closely on people development and advancement.
Prior to this she was a principal at the global private equity firm Apax Partners in Hong Kong and Shanghai, where she was responsible for investments spanning consumer, technology, healthcare and services sectors. She previously held roles at Morgan Stanley and McKinsey & Company.
Irene will work closely with Lincoln Pan - Jardines' recently-appointed Chief Executive Officer - to further build out the Company's investment programme.
