The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met with Assistant Minister Pooja Kapoor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India on March 30, 2026.
Both parties expressed mutual satisfaction with the positive and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and India. They emphasized the importance of high-level visits and bilateral consultations, noting that this continuity demonstrates a strong political commitment on both sides to enhance cooperation and develop concrete forms of partnership in the future.
In particular, they discussed the need to improve economic cooperation, specifically by increasing Indian investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a candidate country for European Union membership, Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes the strengthening of relations between India and the EU. In this context, they highlighted Bosnia and Herzegovina's comparative advantages for Indian investors, including easier access to the EU market, geographic proximity, and ongoing alignment of domestic legislation with EU standards.
The meeting identified agriculture and food production, the automotive and metal industries, the energy and IT sectors, infrastructure, and the defence industry as the most promising areas for enhancing investment and overall economic collaboration.
Minister Konaković praised India's impressive economic growth, noting that Bosnia and Herzegovina closely follows its development, recognizing India as a key driver of the global economy and a technological leader.
They also exchanged views on current geopolitical issues, particularly concerning contemporary security challenges and their impact on global economic trends.
