Events commemorating 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

On April 21, 2025, an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was organized in famous "Alex" theater by the authorities of the city of Glendale. Dr. Karen Israyelyan, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles and the diplomatic staff of the Consulate, the Chiefs of Police and Fire department of Glendale, state and city officials and representatives of the Armenian community were among the participants of the event. "Haikian" choir, pianist Joel Martin with his wonderful jazzical Komitas and "Lernazang" ensemble performed during the evening.

On April 23 a Divine and Immortal Liturgy and Intercessory Prayer Service were offered at the St. Leon Cathedral of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The leaders of all the Armenian churches of North America, ecumenical guests from other churches, Government officials, representatives from Diaspora organizations took part in the Liturgy and Prayer service. Consul General Karen Israyelyan was also among the participants.

On April 24, Consul General Israyelyan and the staff of the consulate attended the traditional wreath laying ceremony at the Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument in Montebello. The event was jointly organized by the United Armenian Council of Los Angeles - UACLA and the Armenian Genocide Committee - AGC. The religious leaders of the Armenian churches, representatives of the traditional Armenian parties and other community organizations, US elected officials were among the participants of this beautiful event.

On April 24 another event named "Demand for Justice Community Rally" dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place in front of the Glendale City Council, organized by the UACLA and AGC. The Consul General of Armenia and the diplomatic staff of the consulate, representatives of the California Assembly and Senate, Burbank and Glendale city councils, various diaspora organizations were among the participants of the event. Powerful speeches were delivered by Senator Adam Schiff, Lenna Hovanessian, ANCA-WR board member, John Harabedian, the only Armenian member of the California State Assembly and others. The crowd also enjoyed wonderful performances by Berj Karazian and "Nayirian" choir of Hamazkayin Western USA.

Many statements and resolutions dedicated to the Armenian Genocide were made by the authorities of the State of California, cities of Los Angeles Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena. as well as elected officials from California.
