CHICAGO - Aug. 4, 2026 - CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation's largest nonprofit health systems, today announced that 61 of its eligible full-service acute care hospitals were recognized in the U.S. News & World Report annual hospital rankings.

Of the hospitals recognized, several were ranked among the top 25 in their state, with Virginia Mason Medical Center in Washington and CommonSpirit Saint Joseph Hospital in Kentucky ranking 1 and 3, respectively. Additionally, many CommonSpirit hospitals were recognized among the top 10 in their metro area, including Seattle, Chattanooga, Houston and Sacramento. More than 10 hospitals received the "Best Regional Hospital" designation.

U.S. News & World Report's 2026-2027 Best Hospitals rankings evaluates how well adult hospitals provide 37 different types of care, and identifies hospitals that excel at handling the most complex and difficult cases.

Industry-leading in High-Acuity Specialty Care

Several CommonSpirit Health hospitals received top rankings in specialty care including:

• Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston is nationally ranked in gastroenterology and GI surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and lung surgery, and ophthalmology; and recognized as high performing in cancer, cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, and geriatrics.

• St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, home to Barrow Neurological Institute, ranked in the top 50 in rehabilitation and was recognized as high performing in neurology and neurosurgery.

• Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle was nationally ranked in heart and vascular care and recognized as high performing in gastroenterology and GI surgery and geriatrics.

Additionally, the recognized CommonSpirit Health hospitals received 288 high performing ratings in procedures including cancer surgery, back surgery, heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, stroke and more.

Continued Recognition of Quality

The US News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings are the latest in a series of safety and quality accolades CommonSpirit has received in 2026, including:

• Recognition from The Leapfrog Group with 86% percent of eligible CommonSpirit hospitals receiving an A or B safety grade, compared to the national average of 59%

• CommonSpirit exceeded the national average for CMS Star Ratings for the 6th consecutive year, with 56% of hospitals earning 4 or 5 stars.
