"I am honored and excited to serve as the next dean of Graduate Studies at Cal State Long Beach," Perrone said. "Graduate education plays a vital role in advancing research, innovation and opportunity, and I look forward to continuing our work to support graduate students, strengthen pathways to advanced degrees, and foster a culture where all can thrive. It is a privilege to continue serving The Beach community in this role."

Throughout her leadership at The Beach, Perrone has played a central role in advancing cross-divisional collaboration and aligning graduate education with institutional priorities. Her work has included expanding blended degree pathways and supporting graduate advising. She is an active participant in national and systemwide graduate education networks, such as the Council of Graduate Schools and the Western Association of Graduate Schools.

"Dr. Perrone brings the experience, vision and collaborative spirit needed to lead Graduate Studies with purpose," said Karyn Scissum Gunn, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. "Her work has already strengthened graduate advising, championed student success and expanded pathways to advanced degrees. I am confident she will continue to elevate graduate education at The Beach."

Perrone is a respected scholar in criminology and criminal justice, with research focused on policies and programs related to people who use drugs. She is the author of the book, "The High Life: Club Kids, Harm and Drug Policy," and has coauthored publications with faculty and students in leading journals. Her work has informed policy and practice at the local, state and national levels.

Before her role as interim dean, Perrone served as a full professor in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Emergency Management in the College of Health and Human Services, as well as faculty director of Graduate Studies and associate dean of Graduate Studies.
