For the fifth consecutive year, the city of Goodyear's Fleet Services Division has earned national recognition as one of the Top 50 Leading Fleets by Government Fleet magazine. This award honors public fleet organizations across the country that set the standard in fleet leadership, competitiveness, efficiency, strategic planning and the ability to overcome challenges in a rapidly evolving industry.
"Our Fleet division continues to set the standard in fleet management through their commitment to excellence, innovation and efficiency," said City Manager Wynette Reed. "We are proud of their hard work as it helps us deliver the very best services to our residents."
Goodyear's Fleet Services Division manages and maintains more than 500 city vehicles, from fire engines and police cruisers to dump trucks and street sweepers. The team plays a critical role in supporting city departments by ensuring each vehicle is safe, reliable and cost-effective.
"Every second counts in an emergency, and it's vital that our city vehicles are in tip-top shape to ensure that our firefighters and police officers can respond quickly and safely," said Goodyear Public Works Director Sumeet Mohan. "We recognize the critical importance of regular preventative maintenance for city vehicles and the need for experienced, dedicated mechanics who can swiftly repair a police cruiser and return it to service for our community."
In addition to experienced mechanics, the city also has a public-private partnership with an automotive parts retailer to keep parts onsite and easily accessible when emergencies arise. This continued national recognition places Goodyear among the top performers in public fleet management, reflecting the city's commitment to service for its residents.
