EUAM RCA inaugurates rehabilitated Forest Control Post in Bangui

The Head of Mission of EUAM RCA inaugurated the rehabilitated Forest Control Post on Gbazabangui Hill in Bangui, alongside the Regional Director of Bangui of the Ministry of Forest Economy, Wildlife and Aquatic Resources.

Rehabilitated with the support of EUAM RCA, the facility strengthens the operational capacity of the Ministry's regional services to monitor forest activities, enforce forestry legislation, protect the environment and promote the sustainable management of the Central African Republic's natural resources.

The rehabilitation forms part of EUAM RCA's continued support to the Ministry of Forest Economy, Wildlife and Aquatic Resources to strengthen institutional capacity and reinforce the State's presence in the forestry sector. By providing forestry officers with an operational base in a strategic area of Bangui, the project improves their ability to conduct inspections, support law enforcement efforts against illegal exploitation of forest resources, monitor protected areas and respond more effectively to environmental threats.

Healthy forests are vital to the Central African Republic's future. They preserve biodiversity, support local livelihoods, generate public revenue and contribute to climate resilience and sustainable economic development. By strengthening the institutions responsible for managing these resources, the European Union is helping national authorities protect one of the country's greatest assets for the benefit of present and future generations.
