SBE Council Statement of Support: “New Opportunities for Business Ownership and Self-Sufficiency Act” (NO BOSS Act), H.R. 6431

The following statement of support for the "NO BOSS Act" (H.R. 6431) can be attributed to Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) President & CEO Karen Kerrigan:

"New business applications are at record levels and now is the time to seize the opportunity by helping more individuals fully launch a business. Unfortunately, various barriers and restrictions often prevent people from launching their dream business, but thankfully the 'New Opportunities for Business Ownership and Self-Sufficiency Act' (NO BOSS Act) checks a barrier and will help more people achieve their dreams. The NO BOSS Act does this by modifying federal rules governing the state administration of self-employment programs and would allow individuals to utilize those resources toward starting a business rather than being pigeonholed into finding a job."

"The bipartisan NO BOSS Act is a policy solution that turns the difficulty of a layoff into an entrepreneurial opportunity. The approach, which has been piloted in certain states, supports economic development and entrepreneurship. Moreover, in certain areas of the country, job availability may be challenging and entrepreneurship might very well be the only option. Supporting new business startups may be an economic godsend for these areas that lack job opportunities."
