DALLAS - Wilmer-Hutchins High School senior Maria E. is leaving a lasting legacy after founding a League of United Latin American Citizens chapter on campus. The organization has grown into a vibrant club, giving Hispanic students a space for representation, civic engagement, and community. Under Maria's leadership, members attended state and national conventions, learned about advocacy, and built friendships rooted in culture and pride.

VISUALS:Students take a swing at cricket
Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation students had the unique opportunity to learn more about the sport of cricket. This morning, legendary player Sachin Tendulkar visited the school on behalf of the National Cricket League and introduced students to the fast-growing, global sport. Now students will have the chance to use their new knowledge of cricket and attend an upcoming professional match for no cost at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Celebrating National Principals Month
This week kicks off National Principals Month, and Dallas ISD is celebrating the hundreds of principals and assistant principals who make a daily impact in our schools. One shining example is Jason Jewell, former principal at Seagoville High School who was asked to serve as interim principal at W.A. Blair Elementary School. In just one year under his leadership, the campus rose three letter grades, a testament to the difference strong principals make for students and communities.
Students ready to score at Soccer Sparks event
John Quincy Adams Elementary School is set to host Soccer Sparks at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 4., thanks to a donation from Walmart in partnership with the Dallas Education Foundation. The event will feature food, family activities, and the Walmart Mobile Soccer Van. Students and families will have the opportunity to meet a professional soccer player.
