Upcoming Pavement Maintenance Project to Improve Streets in Rancho Solano

The City of Fairfield's Rancho Solano Pavement Maintenance Project 2026 is scheduled to begin Monday, September 14. The project will resurface approximately 18 centerline miles of Rancho Solano Parkway and all residential streets within Rancho Solano, along with replacing 17 curb ramps.

The approximately $5.6 million project is funded by the Smith Ranch Assessment District. No Measure P funding or other City funding is being used for this project.

Beginning September 14, VSS International, Inc., the City's contractor, will perform preparatory work, including localized asphalt removal and replacement, commonly known as "dig-out" repairs, and curb-ramp replacement. This work is scheduled to continue through September 25. The contractor will then apply a two-layer pavement treatment consisting of an asphalt-rubber chip seal followed by a microsurface.

Residents may experience a temporary rough driving surface and loose gravel after the chip seal is applied. Drivers should reduce their speed and avoid sudden stops or sharp turns in active work areas.

Construction will generally take place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. While school is in session, work on Rancho Solano Parkway will be limited to 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Construction is expected to continue through December 2026, depending on weather and other unforeseen conditions.

Driveway access will be temporarily restricted while pavement treatments are being placed and allowed to set. Residents will receive advance notice before work begins on their street and should plan accordingly. Access will be restored as soon as conditions allow. Garbage collection, mail delivery, and emergency access will be maintained throughout construction.

Traffic control measures, lane restrictions, and temporary parking restrictions will be in place. "No Parking" signs will be posted in advance, and affected residents will receive additional notice before work begins. Vehicles must be removed from posted work areas during the hours indicated on the signs.
