Update: Weekend Closures on Southbound U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) October 16-19

Friday, October 16, 11 p.m. to Monday, October 19, 6 a.m.

All Southbound Lanes Closed & One Northbound Lane Closed between Cesar Chavez St. to 17th St.

San Francisco County - On the weekend of October 16-19, all U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be closed while Caltrans continues the repaving and rehabilitation project for the U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve). The closure for this work begins Friday, October 16, 11 p.m. to Monday, October 19, 6 a.m.

This third closure to repave the U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway is part of the broader U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) rehabilitation project which began in Fall of 2025. This weekend's work begins the first of two weekend closures on the freeway to repave the southbound lanes of the freeway. Caltrans returns in November to complete the southbound lanes repaving.

Upcoming Weekend Closure Details:

November 6-9 (Fourth Closure)**

This fourth and final full highway closure on the U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) will begin on Friday, November 6, at 11 p.m. to Monday, November 9, at 6 a.m. weather permitting. All southbound lanes (and one northbound lane) between Cesar Chavez and 17th Street will close. All remaining northbound will remain open to traffic.

During this period:

• Two remaining northbound lanes will remain open for public travel.
• Motorists should avoid driving southbound 101 (Hospital Curve) due to anticipated delays.
• Use SB I-280 as an alternate route.

**This November closure was rescheduled from an October 2-5 date.
