"The death of Ayatollah Khamenei makes the world a safer place. For decades, the Iranian regime has proven itself in opposition to U.S. interests, values, and security. Under his rule, Iran became the global sponsor of terror, funding proxies that attacked U.S. troops and our allies, and brutalized its own citizens at home, killing and imprisoning thousands who dared to pursue freedom.

"I have long agreed with President Trump that Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon, and the President has given Iran ample opportunity to negotiate. After repeated warnings and clear red lines ignored, President Trump authorized Operation Epic Fury to defend American interests and eliminate dangers posed by the regime's continued nuclear ambitions.
