Representative Tran Seeks Answers from Local Law Enforcement Following Threats to Islamic Society of Orange County

Orange County, CA - U.S. Representative Derek Tran sent a letter to Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, Sheriff Don Barnes, and Garden Grove Police Chief Amir El-Farra calling for urgent action against recent violent online threats lodged against the Islamic Society of Orange County (ISOC).

"As you may know, ISOC recently announced plans to expand its services at its Garden Grove home base. In response, a spate of violent online posters have started an Islamophobic smear campaign, falsely claiming that ISOC is promoting anti-American values. These perpetrators are instigating a surge of hateful rhetoric and threats of violence. While these threats have not yet escalated to physical violence, we cannot let them. We must work together to protect the mosque and its members," wrote Representative Tran.

The Islamic Society of Orange County was the first mosque established in the Orange County area and has stood as a cornerstone of the community for over 50 years, serving as a hub for peaceful worship and community enrichment.
