City of South Fulton's 4th Annual Autism Sensory Festival Celebrates Empathy and Inclusion

The annual celebration for Autism Awareness Month provides valuable resources and a day full of enjoyable activities for South Fulton families.

SOUTH FULTON, GA - March 25, 2024 - In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, the City of South Fulton is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated Autism Sensory Festival on April 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Wilkerson Mill Park (8095 Wilkerson Mill Road, South Fulton, GA 30268). Now in its fourth year, this festival is designed to offer an enriching day of fun, sensory-friendly activities and helpful resources for children and families in the autism community.

"Over the past three years, this festival has become a powerful tradition in the City of South Fulton, bringing us closer as a community and highlighting the strength found in our differences," said District Four Councilman Jaceey Sebastian. "I'm thrilled to celebrate our fourth annual event, where we can once again come together to learn, support one another, and celebrate the incredible diversity that makes South Fulton such a special place."

In collaboration with Autism Branches, a local group that supports people with autism, the festival will provide many exciting activities that are designed for people on the autism spectrum. Some of the highlights of the festival include:

  • Horseback riding
  • An emotional pet farm
  • A 50-foot sandbox
  • A peaceful calming station
  • Expressive canvas painting sessions

These activities will give everyone a chance to relax, have fun, and be part of an event that celebrates inclusion and understanding. "We are excited to create a special place for families to come together and share their experiences during Autism Awareness Month," said Tonya Newberry, founder of Autism Branches and creator of the Autism Sensory Festival.

This year's festival will provide memorable experiences, combining fun, learning, and a sense of community in the City of South Fulton. For more information and to register for the 4th Annual Autism Sensory Festival, please visit cityofsouthfultonga.gov.
