Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Attends the Launch Ceremony of the China–Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone on the Lancang-Mekong Open Academy Learning Platform of[...]

On June 2, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, visited the Maldives National University and, together with Chancellor Dr. Mahamood Shougee, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, and Professor Yang Lihong, Vice President of Yunnan Open University, witnessed the official launch of the "China-Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone" on the Lancang-Mekong Open Academy Learning Platform.

Built on a digital learning platform, the China-Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone brings together high-quality resources on Yunnan's ethnic cultures, intangible cultural heritage, and traditional Maldivian culture. It provides teachers, students, and the public in both countries with a new online platform for learning, cultural presentation, exchange, and mutual learning.

Participants noted that the launch of the Zone marks an important achievement in China-Maldives educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. It will further promote practical cooperation in digital education, cultural communication, and youth exchanges, enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, foster mutual learning among civilizations, and contribute to deepening China-Maldives friendship and building a closer China-Maldives community with a shared future.
