JEROME - The Idaho Transportation Department closed the westbound loop on-ramp at the Twin Falls Interchange (Exit 173) earlier today. This closure will keep crews safe as they work to replace aging asphalt on Interstate 84 with new concrete.
Motorists can expect:
The loop ramp is expected to reopen in July.
To enter westbound I-84 during the closure, northbound motorists on U.S. Highway 93 will turn left onto the existing westbound on-ramp.
ITD is widening I-84 between the South Jerome Interchange and the Twin Falls Interchange to increase capacity and improve safety. In March, crews opened the newly completed third lane of I-84 between the South Jerome and Twin Falls interchanges (exits 168 and 173). Work will continue near the Twin Falls Interchange through the end of the year, including pavement rehabilitation, striping and railing improvements, which will require intermittent closures.
This work is weather dependent and may be delayed due to conditions. Motorists are encouraged to leave early, plan their route in advance, and follow work zone signage to reach their destination safely and on time. Work on the I-84 Jerome to Twin Falls project is expected to be completed late this year.
