Staying safe and being prepared doesn't have to be hard. It's important to be ready for an emergency before it happens. Strengthen your emergency preparedness and safety when you:

1) Sign up for emergency alerts: Staying informed about hazards, potential disasters, and safety warnings can make all the difference when you, your family, or your property is at risk. With notifications and alerts turned "on" for Genasys Protect and Alert San Diego, you can be the first to know about evacuations, hazardous areas/weather conditions to avoid, how to protect your home from natural disasters, and more!

2) Prep a "go-kit": An ideal go-kit includes vital supplies such as water, non-perishable food (and a can opener), first aid kit, local maps, extra batteries, flashlights, and more. Check out this emergency kit checklist to make sure you got the basics covered.

Remember to check the food's expiration dates and swap out older items with newer ones to keep your kit fresh and up to date!

3) Make a plan: Don't wait until it's too late to make an emergency plan for you and your family! Ask yourself: Where can I go to find shelter? How will I communicate in the event of unreliable Wi-Fi/phone service? What is my evacuation route?

Households have various responsibilities, such as maintaining medical equipment, caring for young children and pets, coordinating spoken languages, and more. In your plan, delegate these responsibilities and create a network to accomplish these roles.
