WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) released the following statement:

"From 2009 until just yesterday, the endangerment finding stood as the centerpiece of our nation's efforts to limit the harms of dangerous greenhouse gases upon the American people and their communities. The Trump Administration's decision to repeal it is based on no legitimate science or coherent reasoning, but is clearly just another handout to the mega polluters whose profits are dependent upon the continuation, and indeed, the acceleration of the climate crisis. As the catastrophic impacts of our deteriorating climate grow more severe and more frequent, clean energy and clean air must remain priorities. These are human rights, not bargaining chips for billionaire donors. As disturbing as this administration's actions are, they do not surprise me. Selling out the health and future of American families for a few more bucks has been this president's bread-and-butter his entire life. I have no doubt he will continue to betray the American people whenever it is convenient, just as he will continue to espouse his nonsensical climate denialism whenever it is profitable."
