Tokyo, August 5, 2026 - Astemo, Ltd. (hereafter "Astemo") has entered into a memorandum of understanding with TIER IV, Inc. (hereafter "TIER IV") to jointly develop a next-generation development platform centered on an AI development foundation, which aims to strengthen core technologies for next-generation driver assistance and autonomous driving systems. This initiative combines Astemo's expertise in mass-production development, compliance with automotive safety standards, and vehicle integration requirements cultivated over many years with TIER IV's technological capabilities in autonomous driving systems and knowledge gained through its Co-MLOps platform*1 for autonomous driving AI development. Through this initiative, Astemo will further enhance its IoV platform,*2 which it is developing as a foundational platform for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
*1
Co-MLOps (Cooperative Machine Learning Operations) Platform: A platform developed by TIER IV to collect large-scale datasets required for autonomous driving AI development on a global scale and enable companies and research institutions to collaboratively share, manage, and utilize such data. For details, please refer to the TIER IV website.https://co-mlops.tier4.jp/
*2
IoV (Internet of Vehicles) Platform: A development platform that continuously enhances automakers' SDV development by connecting onboard systems and cloud back-end systems and creating a continuous cycle-from driving data collection to simulation, AI-based training and validation, as well as deployment to vehicles.
In the SDV age, vehicles continuously evolve through software and AI. Driven by advances in generative AI and foundation models, end-to-end (E2E)*3 autonomous driving AI models that integrate perception, decision-making, and vehicle control are gaining significant attention as a key technology for next-generation driver assistance and autonomous driving systems. To deploy such AI models for production vehicles, it is not only necessary to meet automotive safety standards and mass-production requirements, but also to establish an AI development foundation capable of continuous AI model development and improvement using large-scale driving data. Astemo has been advancing the development of such a foundation, and the two companies have already collaborated on autonomous driving AI development through initiatives utilizing the open-source Autoware*4 and Co-MLOps autonomous driving software platform. This agreement further expands and strengthens that collaborative relationship.
*3
A technology in which AI processes perception, decision-making, and vehicle control in an integrated manner, based on information obtained from cameras and various sensors.

Autoware is a registered trademark of The Autoware Foundation.
Under this agreement, Astemo and TIER IV will work together to strengthen the AI development foundation for autonomous driving and advance initiatives toward the commercialization of E2E autonomous driving AI models. Through these efforts and the IoV platform, Astemo aims to realize the practical application of E2E autonomous driving AI models in mass-production vehicles in the early 2030s.
The two companies will primarily pursue the following two initiatives. First, through leveraging licenses for the Co-MLOps architecture-the core technology underpinning TIER IV's Co-MLOps platform-and related technologies, the companies will develop an integrated AI development foundation that enables the collection, processing, training, and evaluation of driving data. This will establish an environment for the continuous development and improvement of AI models under the quality and safety requirements necessary for deployment in mass-production vehicles, while further enhancing Astemo's IoV platform.
Second, the companies will jointly study the practical application of E2E autonomous driving AI models. By leveraging their respective expertise and technological assets, Astemo and TIER IV will define requirements and develop roadmaps for next-generation development environments and related technologies that leverage the IoV platform. Through these efforts, Astemo aims to commercialize E2E autonomous driving AI models for Level 4+*5 autonomous driving, targeting deployment in mass-production vehicles in the early 2030s.
*5
A concept proposed by TIER IV that gradually expands the operational domain of fully autonomous driving across diverse driving environments with varying levels of complexity.
Through the initiatives under this agreement, Astemo will accelerate the development of next-generation mobility technologies utilizing AI and data. Moreover, by advancing its IoV platform, Astemo will contribute to the realization of a safer and more sustainable mobility society.
