WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) - chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs - today announced that Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Doug Collins will testify before the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs about proposed changes to the VA health care system on January 28.
"I look forward to hearing from Secretary Collins this month about his plans to realign the organizational structure of the VA health care system over the next two years," said Sen. Moran. "This will be an opportunity for members of the committee to hear directly from the Secretary and senior leaders about this restructuring and how it will improve the delivery of care to veteran patients in every state and district across the country."
On December 15, Secretary Collins announced an initiative - Restructure for Impact and Sustainability Effort (RISE) - to realign the organizational structure and governance of the VA healthcare system. During this hearing, members of the committee will have an opportunity to learn more about the intent and expected impact of RISE and the effect it will have on VA's workforce as well as on the access and quality of the care VA delivers to veteran patients.
