SACRAMENTO, CA - Today, Assemblymember Dr. Jasmeet Bains honored June Nachor, Vice Chairwoman of the Tejon Indian Tribe, as the 35^th Assembly District's 2026 Woman of the Year. This recognition celebrates June as a trailblazing woman whose leadership and service have inspired her community and broken barriers for women in Tribal, local, and statewide advocacy.

Driven by service, June brings strength and compassion to her advocacy on behalf of Tribal citizens. Her commitment to empowering women and uplifting marginalized voices in the community extends well beyond her respected leadership role in the Tribe.

June has led transformative programs and championed an impressive range of initiatives, including:

• Serving as Vice Chairwoman of the Tejon Indian Tribe, where she provides visionary leadership and compassionate guidance
• Directing the Tejon Indian Tribe Victim Advocacy Program, expanding critical support for Tribal members who are victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse
• Bringing more than 15 years of management and executive experience in the oil and gas industry
• Actively serving as a member of the Kern Coalition Against Human Trafficking to advance prevention and support
• Securing a multimillion-dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to support victim services, safety infrastructure, and culturally grounded advocacy for Tribal citizens
• Supporting veterans and their families as a member of the Bakersfield National Cemetery Support Committee
• Guiding community initiatives as a foundation board member for the Community Action Partnership of Kern
• Promoting economic empowerment, especially for underrepresented communities, as a member of the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
• Serving as a board member of the Tejon Gaming Authority
• Representing the Tribe as a delegate to the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, advocating for Tribal interests at the state level
• Representing the Tejon Indian Tribe as a delegate to the California Indian Manpower Consortium
• Advising on statewide infrastructure as a member of the CalTrans Native American Advisory Board
